Talking Post Cereal Terrariums

Raise your hand if you got a Terrarium out of Post cereals in the 1970s!

I'm trying to piece together a history of these premiums. Please contribute by responding here if you can.

I know that Super Sugar Crisp gave these away on at least four separate occasions:

= 1974: three shapes, clear plastic
= 1975: exact same ones used in 1974
= 1976: same three shapes as before but now in three translucent colors
= 1979 or 1980: three shapes with opaque, colored bottoms

I have three of the four boxes, missing the last one. Below is the box from 1975.

I know that the 1976 set was also given away in Alpha-Bits. That's all I know.

Questions:

= Were there more offerings besides the four listed above?
= Were the other three offerings also in Alpha-Bits?
= Did Honey-Comb, Pebbles or another Post Cereal offer them, too?
= Does anyone have a good photo or scan to share of the 1979/1980 box?

Happy New Year from Sugar Bear!Post Cereal Terrariums - 1975

yeah I have the Alphabits box but I think that is all on this premium - seems like all the actual premiums I have found were the colored translucent ones which were the ones I remember as a kid

Default Here's one that was saved for the future

No history to share but here is what the "Free Toy Inside" looked like (at least the round version).

Default Terrariums

I had the clear, dome shaped one, back in 1974. A special thanks to Brandon (waffle whiffer) for hooking me up with that dome shaped one (on eBay). I was then able to complete the set of three from that year. Thanks again, Brandon. I also have one with a clear top and a dark blue bottom. The seed packet is marked 1979. I have great memories of these premiums. Thanks for posting the info.

Default Completly satisfied

I can't think of any greater satisfaction than finally completing a series of toy premiums that have been longed for. It's fulfilling.

Grickily -- Thanks. I must have seen that one on your website before.

Astronit -- Cool. Your box back is from the original 1974 set.

Monstercereal -- Glad to help, of course! So your dark blue one would be from the final set. Thanks for the date confirmation.

I've got a few more MIP terrariums, which have been hard to come by. I'm tempted to open one up and see if it will still grow. Maybe one of these days...

Thanks guys for the responses.

Here's the 1976 set on this box front that I posted on Flickr a while back.
